The Kalahari: The Desert Of Life

- 05/10/2010
The Kalahari desert is home to some of the harshest conditions on earth, yet within this arid landscape there grows many different flora and fauna not usually associated with a desert. It is not only flora and fauna that has thrived in this area; the San bushmen have lived here for many thousands of years.

The native hunter-gatherers would get their water from roots and desert melons. The San using bows and poison tipped arrows hunt over these bleached sands looking for food, however sometimes these hunts can take days.

When this was the case the San would have to turn to the flora and fauna to survive whether they be berries, nuts and melons. However when they are going into places where these food products are scarce, the San learned that in this arid wilderness of southern Africa they could trust one thing. Sprouting 6ft high amid the prehistoric vegetation, green, prickly and sour, it was a plant they called Xhoba.

Hunters would cut a slice, munch it, and within minutes hunger and thirst would evaporate, leaving a feeling of strength and alertness. They could travel for days eating nothing else. This plant known to us as Hoodia has recently been developed into an appetite suppresser. Hoodia is seen as the best response to the western problem of obesity that has damaged the health of 100 million people throughout western civilization. This is because of the lack of a side affect which blight the other competitors currently on the market.

If it works for the San Bushmen it could work for you, get yours today from www.JustHoodia.co.uk
